having finished the rage2 event better than i started, i left the FC untouched until taking it out for rage3 at lucas oil raceway park. i scored some great tires from my bro Joh Howell and unfortunately for me, i listened to the tire guys where i had them mounted instead of trusting my own knowledge and let them install them in the rear...
thats where the problems started, i was running 235/40r17 Fuzion HRI's up front, with the same sized Toyo Proxy TS-1's in the back, the TS-1s are a ultimate summer tire, the fuzions just suck...so even with 55 psi in the rear and 33 in the front i still couldn't over come the grip of the rear tires and the car started pushing (understeering) really bad.
we ( Stu and I ) reversed the tires in the back to no avail. after trying to work it out in my driving technique i finally got out of line and just sat there pissed at my car.
Jim Brown was having none of that and came over and helped me change my fronts to rears and so forth...went back out, forgot to adjust the tire pressure so i was now running 55 psi upfront and 33 in the rear...the result...MORE pushing...after figuring out what i had forgetten to adjust i bummed around the pits till i found a tire gauge to borrow...adjusted the fronts down to 30 psi and went out again...
the result, some push with very horrible turn in, i needed more rear tire pressure....most of the event was over now and i was in a shitty mood, i couldn't find air, but the last good moment was when t2mike came over and drove my car....his input was very helpful and the learning experience with the tires should help for next event.
so all in all fun event, shitty time wrestling with the car for poor results....but that happens...thats track life. some times your the tire some times your the squirrel. i doubt i caught much media attention but if i did i will try and get that up here soon.

drift indy rages, seat time is acquired.
while the Midwest Drift Union events of the 2010 season helped me feel out tuning on the car, the seat time was eaten up by the large amount of better drivers vying for the Pro-Am title. being that i could never quailfy for the competition i was regulated to getting seat time with the group B guys who were all wrestling with their own tuning. MDU is a showcase for the best of the best drivers in the midwest, unfortunately for me, i was far from that level. i opted on missing the last of the 2010 seasons events to concentrate on other aspects of my life, and i will admit i felt a little dejected, by how far i was from the top level of our drivers. i was searching for my spot in the scene i had left for two years, and most of my time was spent encouraging other noob drivers, and taking photo's.
Renton, chris judy AKA spazz, thomas lange aka tdiddy, oliver, we all fought against our cars and some of us excelled while others fought to keep up. Tdiddy found out that seat time made for bigger balls, and he quickly got good.
Edgar and the drift indy staff would not let us down for 2011 tho, they felt the gap left behind by the Pro-Am competition, and their commitment to helping noob level drivers get good shined through, soon Drift Indy was reborn, friday night rage nights at lucas oil raceway park gave them the chance they needed and soon low key no competition practices were back in our lives.
2 rage nights under my belt and my love for this sport and interest in getting good has been completely renewed! many thanks to edgar, jorge, tr and all my bro's...

modifying the FC to drift.
After finally putting a good foot foreward in the drift world, scoring a great chasis to work with, i knew it needed to be modified from how it sat. thankful i still had a grip of cash and a good friend in edgar sarmiento who helped me get some discounts on the parts i needed. also scored a set of 17x9 hotwheel 68s from Bwag (brian waggner) of LOLhio.
i called up Mike Fieock, one of the resident FC gods of indy (and now formula D. licensed) and asked some questions about the FC suspension, he gave me lots of great tips and so i ordered the K-sports above and some racing beat DTSS eliminators from mazda trix.
Chris Judy got word i had scored a nice FC and some suspension parts, and after talking it over he decided he wanted my old suspension on the car...so he came over and installed the coilovers and walked away with a set of tokico blues and matching sport springs for his work.
At this point i decided it was time to take the car out and start learning how she drove, so i went to couple events in '10 with Midwest Drift Union, which was what drift indy had become. the steering wheel rubbed on my legs, the seats sucked, and i needed to dial in the coilovers. the season ended with me sucking behind the wheel but knowing what to improve.
Edgar and Jorge Vega told me to get more seat time.
If everyone else jumped off a bridge would you do it too...
If everyone else jumped off a bridge...yadda yadda yadda, well i thought i would start blogging primarily due to the large volume of all the other drifters in my community blogging also.
I've been involved in the drift scene of indianapolis before there was a drift scene of indianapolis, i was there when rob louie showed us all where the best roads in the state are, and i was there when edgar said to himself, shit we should really be doing this on a track. I was there when jay schroeder popped his tires in a parking lot. when jay left for japan, i started a touge team so he would have something to come back to.

4 years ago i started a family with my beautiful wife and i left the game entirely, then shit got amazing with drift indy and i just had to come back.
i had a grip of crappy cars that i had flogged to death on "the touge" and at the first season of drift indy (back in '07), i sold them all to make a pile of cash and then scoured the internet looking for the right car, i had bought the wrong car many times, non-supercharged 1st gen mr2s, 325es e30 bmws, falling apart 240sx's...
bye bye to the world of underpowered midengined cars, and shit that needed to much work. hello to the world of rotary powered sorta midshipped cars. i scored a gem of an FC, thats a 2nd generation rx7 to those not in the car world, its not turbo-ed but it was a sorta polished NASA track day car with a streetported motor from AIM tuning, before they stopped touching rotary motors, turns out a friend of mine, clinton "floorjack" actually built the motor before i got to know him, a car with a great history is a great spot to start.
